Revival - with Harold Vaughan
Role: Director
Revival was the first documentary that I filmed overseas. This presented several challenges from a creative side. Due to budgetary constraints, a scouting trip was ruled out. I spent quite a bit of time on Google Earth, exploring locations that were significant to the story we were telling. I was also able to connect with our local team who were able to send me pictures and video of several locations so I could better understand the layout.
Pulled From the Burning
Role: Director & Director of Photography
As the director and director of photography (DP) for Pulled From the Burning, I faced several unique challenges that tested my creativity and resourcefulness. One of the hurdles was recreating the moments leading up to the fateful plane crash in the exact plane model that had crashed earlier. Though it would have been easy to not film this scene due to budgetary and location constraints, I decided it was necessary to the story as a bookend.
On set, I had the dual responsibility of directing the interviews while handling the camera work. Balancing these roles demanded focus and precision, as I needed to ensure both the narrative and visual elements were captured effectively.
The hard work paid off when Pulled From the Burning won Runner-Up for Best Documentary at the Christian Worldview Film Festival and second place for Best Television Production at the ICVM Awards.
